Technical Specification
The Premron E-BS is new technology to Australia; engineers and plant
layout personnel will need to consider the following details:
Conveyor Belting
Currently the rubber belting is manufactured by Fenner
Dunlop in The Netherlands and its construction is appropriate given
the low belt tensions. Typically, the 1400 belt is constructed with
a 3mm top, 2mm bottom, and a 2 ply fabric between. The drive wedge
is moulded as part of the belt construction; there is no steel chord
in the belt. Belt splicing is a simple site hot vulcanising process.
Terminal Pulleys
Belt tensions are very low with resulting low reactions
at pulley shaft bearings; bending stresses only, no torque to shafts.
Discharge Pulley is mounted horizontal
and can be fitted with any standard belt cleaner if required to
limit build up of product on the belt. Tail Pulley
is mounted vertically and usually the Gravity Take Up
is incorporated within this assembly. As the clean side of the belt
is in contact with the pulleys there is no build up of product on
pulley faces.
Conveyor Drives
Located along the conveyor at locations that limit the
belt tensions to that specified. The drives are in sets of two and
arranged opposite each other in order that they apply equal drive
pressure to the belt drive wedge. They are in the form of a geared
motor, inline with a lagged drive pulley and fitted with an antirun-back
device and disc brake fitted to the motor. The personal protection
is provided by lanyard switches and guarding as required. Relay,
plug chute switches etc. are readily incorporated.
Belt Support Rollers
Placed at even distance as required and comprise a steel
bracket with a a bolted clamp to a circular hollow section. Rollers
can be cantilevered or supported from each end. Each assembly comprises
an outer pipe shell and support shaft assembly. The shaft will be
supported on Single Row Deep Groove Precision Ball Bearings sized
to permit practical shaft diameters while satisfying bearing deflection
criteria that allows a B10 bearing life. Bearings will be factory
greased and incorporate a labyrinth sealing device.

The technical information herein is intended as a guide only for
engineers to carry out a preliminary study to see if the Premron E-BS
is for their requirements. Please refer any technical queries not
covered above to Premron E-BS. We will also assist, without obligation,
in the preparation of any layouts existing or new plant to determine
suitability.
Pricing
In order to service the total market, it is proposed to
offer the system as a package comprising the essential components
with the option for the end user to organise their own support structure.
However, through its affliation with Mechanical Engineers Australia
(MEA), Premron E-BS is well placed to provide a proposal for supporting
structure and Owners and Engineering Consultants retain the ability
to compare cost and attributes of competing alternatives.
The modules will be offered as follows:
- Head Discharge and Belt Turnover module
- Tail/GTU and Feed module
- Drive module - load belt
- Drive module - empty belt
- Intermediate module - straight
- Intermediate module - curved
- Manuals and Assembly Drawings
